A lovely final day of Forest School for Year 2 and Year 4. In the morning we had Year 4, we started off with a new whole class game called Capture the Flag. We divided into 2 groups each was given a flag which they hid in their half of the Forest. Then the teams had to decide who were the attackers to go and try the find the flag and bring it back to their half of the forest to win and who were the defenders who would tag anyone from the other team in their half. Both teams did a great job and it was a very close contest. Then we divided into 2 groups- one had a fire and we made Hot Chocolate. The children told jokes around the fire which was wonderful whilst the other group played more games before swapping over.

Year 2 were really lucky as we had Hugh from Folly Wildlife Rescue in to visit us. He is very keen on Hoverflies and bugs so he is going to work with us to create a bug and insect friendly wildlife areas around the school. Today we started with planting sunflowers. The children were a credit to the school- they were so polite, enthusiastic and knowledgeable about planting the seeds. He will come in again next term to plant some more plants, create a hover fly lagoon and build some bug hotels.

We are the first school they are doing an outreach programme with, so we’re both very excited about it. Next term it is Year 1 and Reception having Forest School every Wednesday. Please come in clothes you don’t mind getting dirty but bring a change of clothes and shoes to wear afterwards.
